Not quite Indiana Jones

In fact, not even close. Still, I thought y’all might like to see what yours truly found…

Jaguar Gate, Copán, Honduras

…in the mouth of the Jaguar Gate, in Copán, Honduras:

Some cool skulls…

…and a great view of ‘The Acropolis’.

Alas, our camera’s batteries ran out before we could get any pictures of the altar where human sacrifices were performed.

If you’re interested, there’s more information about the Mayan ruins at Copán here (Flash required), here (the official site of the town near the ruins), and, of course, here (Wikipedia). And, as one might expect, there are plenty of Google image results.

Awesome shots! Looks like a fantastic place.

I wish we’d had more than one day to spend in Copán – we probably saw less than half the site, and we skipped the museum and tunnels (you can see the entrance of one the tunnels towards the center of the ‘Acropolis’ photo).

Still, the trip was incredible; we’re already trying to figure out how soon we can go back.

(Oh, and this weekend I should be posting additional pictures over on my site…)

Cool photos!

On a side note- go vote for your favorite monster!
