For the sake of all that is holy, I hope they don’t pull the rod out of the remains. The best thing would be to cover it back up. Haven’t they ever seen a Hammer horror film?

The discovery of a 700-year-old skeleton in Bulgaria—seen at the country’s National Museum of History in June—offers evidence that the fear of vampires is far older than Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

The “vampire” was found entombed among church ruins in the Black Sea town of Sozopol (map) earlier in the month.

Speaking of steampunk, I really liked Perfect Creature, which I finally got around to viewing (my Netflix queue has a bit of a backlog). Perfect Creature is a vampire film with a twist where vampires are the priests who look out for humanity except for one who has turned into a killer. This is all set in an alternative dimension with a lot of steampunk elements that is advanced to a 1960ish setting.

The movie is not flawless, but considering what I like it really worked for me.

For those into that sort of thing.

Vampires, Nazis, sex, violence. In other words, be here for the still untitled latest adventure of our stalwart heroes.

I get emails:

Last night my shift had a wild vehicle pursuit. The chase went for over 25 miles, all over the western half of Washington County. The suspect car evaded at least one attempt at a spike strip by MSP, however one of my Deputies nailed the tires along I-70. The car came to a stop after that. Here’s where it gets interesting.

The driver turned out to be a crazed totally INSANE 55 year old female from Washington D.C. who stated she would not stop because she was running from VAMPIRES. Honest to god, true story. She’s presently in the hospital and will be going to jail after that.

At least she escaped the vampire. In a followup email, I learned the vampires were not captured.
